PitchIn Platform uses ECB-mandated Stripe to simplify cricket club fundraising

ECB Stripe PitchIn Platform Integration

When we started building PitchIn Platform, our goal was clear: make fundraising as easy as possible for cricket clubs. That meant stripping away any barriers that might slow down or complicate the process. One key question we kept asking ourselves was: how do we ensure a club can sign up and start fundraising in minutes?

A big stumbling block early on was how we’d handle payments. The site’s core features such as campaign creation, templates, sharing tools were all within our control. But payments? That’s a different game entirely. Unless we were willing to build a payment solution from scratch (not something you want to bootstrap!), we needed to find the right integration.

Luckily, the ECB had already done some of the heavy lifting.

To run All Stars or Dynamos programmes, cricket clubs must have a Stripe account, used via the ClubSpark platform to manage the correct payment split between club and ECB. That meant many of the clubs we wanted to support already had Stripe accounts, or were in the process of setting one up.

This made our decision simple: integrate Stripe.

Now, when a club joins PitchIn Platform, they just connect their existing Stripe account. That’s it. No new accounts, no extra steps, and most importantly, no delays.

And the impact? It’s immediate.

Take Pudsey Congs Cricket Club. They signed up, connected Stripe, created a Bonus Ball campaign, shared it and made their first sale - all in a matter of minutes.

Richard Jubb at Pudsey Congs said:

“We used to run a monthly bonus ball draw years ago, but it needed a dedicated person to run it… which is very admin-heavy and time-consuming. Within minutes of logging in to PitchIn Platform, we adapted one of their template campaigns and just like that… our bonus ball draw was revived.”

Since then, they’ve used PitchIn Platform to launch social memberships, organise pre-season nets, and even sell matchball sponsorships for their 2025 home fixtures at the Veezu Britannia Ground. Read the full case study and learn more about how Pudsey Congs CC simplified fundraising by leveraging their existing Stripe account.

At PitchIn Platform, our mission is to help grassroots clubs increase their fundraising while spending less time doing it. Seamlessly integrating Stripe, something most cricket clubs already use, has been a big step in making that possible.
